Heartwarming Children’s Books about Dads

Reading children’s books about dads is a wonderful way to celebrate fathers! Discover these heartwarming picture books all about dad.

Children's Books about DadsMy eldest was 6 months old when my husband celebrated his first Father’s Day. I bought Guess How Much I Love You and planted my son’s chubby right hand onto the inside front cover. With a marker, I traced his handprint on the book and wrote, “Happy Father’s Day!” It was the perfect gift for the occasion.

But beyond the special occasion of Father’s Day, reading children’s books about dads celebrates these amazing guys in our lives. These men who aren’t babysitters, but co-parents and partners. Men who have embraced fatherhood and whom we hope our kids can grow up to emulate.

With amazing stories and illustrations, these books highlight the special bond between father and child. I also read them to my son when he had what we called “mama-itis,” and preferred me over his dad. Most of all, they’re fun books that help reiterate and explore the meaning of having a good father.
