Does your child like farms and farm animals? Read farm books for preschoolers — a fantastic way to tie in with a trip to the farm or nursery songs.
If you’re a parent, there’s a good chance you’ve bleated, moo’d and baa’d about a thousand times by now. After all, farms and farm animals remain a big hit with kids. They’re in every nursery rhyme and preschool curriculum. Your kids probably have some toy, coloring book or puzzle about farm animals. They even make their way into birthday party themes. And of course, we find them throughout many children’s books about farms.
About a month ago, my family and I visited a nearby farm called Underwood Farms. Granted, this was as touristy a farm as you can get—a giant petting zoo, really. Still, my boys were able to see a ton of animals they don’t get to see often: pigs, horses, donkeys, chickens and countless goats to name a few. You can also visit the farm to pick seasonal fruit.
A wonderful way to tie a trip to the farm back home? Through books. After we came home, I borrowed a ton of these books to read with my kids. Each one was a fun way to review all the animals we had just seen.
