Children’s Books by Oliver Jeffers

Does your child love The Day the Crayons Quit? Check out our favorite children’s books by Oliver Jeffers for even more fantastic selections!

Children's Books by Oliver JeffersIt seemed like Oliver Jeffers was going to enter our lives one way or another.

The first time was when we read Jeffers’ first book, How to Catch a Star, except the book I borrowed from the library was in Spanish. Of course, I had no idea what the stories and illustrations were about, but my eldest appreciated it at the time when his dad read to him.

The second time was when I kept seeing this book about crayons popping up on the bestseller lists. And that’s how I realized The Day the Crayons Quit was illustrated by Jeffers.

Then, as if the world wanted to make sure I understood How to Catch a Star, a friend of mine gifted me the book. So, now I’ve read the book in Spanish and English.

And the one that cinched it all came when my cousin visited and gifted us the video rendition of Lost and Found. My kids hadn’t read it yet, so off to the library we went to borrow the book, where we ended up borrowing nearly every Oliver Jeffers book along the way.

You’ll see how Wilfred and his “pet” moose Marcel navigate rules and running wild. Another little girl can’t seem to find ghosts in a haunted house, but you just might. Here We Are is a sweet story written after the birth of Jeffers’ son that shares how to be a good human.

And when Floyd’s kite gets stuck in a tree, he did what many of us have done: throw another object to knock it down. But what happens when he throws everything—his favorite shoes, an orangutan, the milkman, and even a whale—and the kite still doesn’t fall?

So yeah, I guess you can say we—grownups and kids alike—are fans of these fabulous stories. And I’m hoping, after having read a few of these picture books below, you and your little one can be one, too.
