Discuss the changes throughout the year with these children’s books about the seasons. Your kids will learn all about winter, spring, summer and fall.
It’s winter in Los Angeles but the weather is expected to reach a high of 82. Not exactly your typical winter season. Though I’m not complaining, I do envy other parts of the country that enjoy the four seasons and their distinct transitions from one to the next (minus the crazy cold the east coast is getting!).
For my kids, their version of the seasons relies heavily on books. We’ll occasionally see a tree with orange foliage falling on the ground, but our seasons are pretty limited and don’t vary too much.
We read children’s books about the seasons to learn the importance of the changing year. That the cycle of a tree’s life or the migration and habits of animals and people are seasonal.
With a mix of both fiction and non-fiction, these children’s books about the seasons talk about the changes in nature. Some focus on trees, especially since they change so much in a given year. Others describe the lives of animals and how their lives are affected by the seasons.
