Is your child ready to count and learn about numbers? Books are a great way to start! Discover 11 children’s books about numbers to read with your child.
Once I had gotten my two-year-old twins reading books about letters and the alphabet, the next thing to do was to introduce them to numbers. They can recognize letters pretty well, but could they do the same with numbers?
Sure, they can recite “one, two, three” (or some cute variation of it), but I wanted them to get a hang of numbers and its concept.
So these are the books I’ve been pulling out. Fun books with the simple purpose of introducing numbers and counting along. Ten, Night, Eight was a hand-me-down book from my cousin, and five kids later (hers plus mine), it still sits in our bookshelf. Textured monkey heads make Eight Silly Monkeys a fun read, as the monkeys count down from eight to one. One Is a Snail, Ten Is a Crab counts animal feet all the way to 100.
Look anywhere and you’ll find so many counting books. Below are some of my favorites.
