Have you heard of The Gruffalo or Stick Man? These are just some of the children’s books by Julia Donaldson my kids and I love.
Julia Donaldson entered our lives so gradually that I don’t even remember the first book of hers we read. If I had to guess, it was either Room on a Broom or Where’s My Mom? Only way later did I realize that the books I happened to like were all written by the same person.
Not that it’s subtle. Axel Sheffler illustrates these particular books of hers with the same style. And Donaldson has a signature cadence to her rhymes that’s fun to read aloud.
Once I realized she was writing all those books I liked, I borrowed more from the library. And I wasn’t the only big fan: my kids request her books over and over.
Below are 10 books by Julia Donaldson my kids and I have read and enjoyed. (On some of them, I’ve included links to crafts or games specific to that book.)
Your turn: Have you read these books? Which books written by Julia Donaldson are your favorites? Let me know in the comments!
