I always thought it’s so cool how kids can dress up in costume any day of the year. No one would say anything about a little boy dressed as a pirate while at the grocery with his mom. Or the girl in my son’s class who came to class in a fairy dress for pajama day. Or that kids even have pajama days.
Because, let’s face it, stick an adult in those scenarios and he’d get some pretty strange looks.
Plus, dressing up in costume does well for kids’ imagination. Dress up clothes and costumes are open-ended toys. They encourage imagination because you don’t need to play the “right way.” Open-ended toys like costumes have no determined traits or characters already established. Kids can be whoever they want to be.
And, more importantly, kids can use pretend play to learn about their world. The child dressed as a doctor giving shots to her teddy bear is finding ways to cope with her fear. Or the kids dressed as warriors learn about the good guys and the bad guys as they fight to save the world.
No wonder Halloween season is so fun for kids.
And here’s another great reason to dress your kids in costume this month: Chucktober.
At Chuck E. Cheese’s, kids have fun any day of the year. I still have fond memories of Skee Ball, rolling a series of balls and trying to land one in the smallest circle. You also had the hammer game, where you’d bop the little animal poking its head out of the holes. And of course, the crazy mazes and the balls so plenty you felt you were practically swimming.
For the rest of October, Chuck E. Cheese’s offers even one more reason to drop by and have fun. Any child who visits Chuck E. Cheese’s in costume during October gets 50 free tickets. Extra tickets mean extra prizes!
I’ve been to Chuck E. Cheese’s enough times to know how much fun kids have there. Their pizza and root beer taste awesome. And you don’t have to worry about fidgety kids sitting through a restaurant meal. I’ve also gone to Chuck E. Cheese’s for birthday parties for my nieces and nephews. Seriously loads of fun and so easy to enjoy the party knowing your kids are having a great time.
So dress your kids in their costumes, whether Halloween or dress up clothes, and bring them to Chuck E. Cheese’s this month. You’ll get 50 extra tickets right away to claim your prizes. And here’s an extra promo: Post a picture of your child in costume with #chucktober #sweepstakes hashtags and you’re entered to win a $250 Visa Gift Card. Bonus points for you and your kids!
As if your kids needed more incentive to dress in costume and go to Chuck E. Cheese’s.
