Ready to welcome spring? Check out the best children’s books about spring to read with your child. They’re the perfect picture books for springtime!
But weather? Even we Los Angelenos still struggle through the cold days and nights of winter, when it’s too cold to plant anything new.
That’s why when the weather warms and spring is in full swing, so is our little patio garden.
Last year, we planted seeds into the soil, waiting for them to sprout until the last one standing became the sole survivor of the pot. This year, we’ve been transplanting seedlings we get from our local farmers market, from flowers to herbs to vegetables.
(In fact, we just made an BLT sandwich from our batch of arugula!)
Children’s books about spring
Gardens are just one sign that spring is here. Spring activities also mark the season’s arrival, from nature outings to picnics to all the events that warmer weather lets us do.
And what better way to mark the new season than through reading children’s books about spring?
I compiled my favorites, just in time to read with the kids. I borrowed most of these books from the library, while a few others we already owned, to learn more about this time of the year.
For instance, we learned how animals transition out of hibernation as well as how insects change from one form to another. We also talked about how the next few months of spring is the prime time for growth for many species, especially after a long hiatus.
If you’ve been ready to welcome spring, definitely check out these children’s books!
