Children’s Books by Julia Donaldson
Heard of The Gruffalo or Stick Man? These are just some of the children’s books by Julia Donaldson that your kids will love (including crafts!).
Author Julia Donaldson entered our lives so gradually that I don’t even remember the first book of hers we read. If I had to guess, it was either Room on a Broom or Where’s My Mom? Only later did I realize that the books I happened to like were all written by the same person.
Not that it’s subtle. Axel Scheffler and Lydia Monks illustrate these books with the same style, and Donaldson has a signature cadence to her rhymes that’s fun to read aloud.
She has also collaborated with other illustrators like Sharon King-Chai, Sebastien Braun, and Joel Stewart.
Once I realized she was writing all those picture books I liked, I borrowed more from the library. And I wasn’t the only big fan: my kids request her books over and over.
Below are several bestselling books by Julia Donaldson my kids and I have read and enjoyed. You’ll meet a witch and her wand who flies on a broomstick along with a saber-toothed tiger and a big brown bear. A mouse who must face a fox, an owl, a snake, and something more mysterious. And you’ll see how the scruffiest giant turns into the smartest giant in town.
These bestselling tales and illustrations are filled with timeless imaginary characters that are sure to delight. I hope you find the perfect book—and adventure!—to read below:
