These children’s books about the beach are perfect to get your kids excited about an upcoming visit, calm their anxieties, and to learn about our shores.
Yesterday, my five-year-old didn’t want to leave the beach. He was too busy looking for sand crabs, building channels and castles, and chasing the water with a pail.
You’d never guess this was the same toddler who’d cry if his feet so much as touched the sand. Meanwhile, his own toddler twin brothers are still getting used to the beach. They don’t like walking on the sand and would never consider going into the water.
However, I’m happy to report that the more we visit the beach (and bringing the right essentials!), the less tears are shed.
I also came prepared. I loaded up on books and stores for kids about the beach so they know what to expect. The books were also useful for after the beach trips. This time, the conversation was more about all the things we saw and experienced.
These stories also gave me ideas of what we can do once we’re there. From bringing sandwiches and peaches to building channels that fill up with each wave’s tide.
Reading about the beach can get your children excited about an upcoming visit. Or maybe your child has had anxiety in the past and you’d like to introduce typical scenes and activities at the beach. Or maybe yet, you’d like your kids to learn about life on the shores.
Check out these books about the beach, perfect for your next beach excursion.
