Check out the best children’s books about twins, perfect for toddlers! Includes twins as the main characters and stories about life as a duo.
Most of us won’t know what it’s like to be a twin, myself included. But since having my twin boys, I can say that life as a twin can be quite different.
On the bright side, a twin means having a built-in best friend from birth. My kids like to match their clothes, and share the same interests and hobbies. But they’re also often compared to each other, whether intentionally or not. And let’s not even get into taking turns, waiting, and sharing nearly everything.
As parents of twins, our goal is to find that balance between nurturing their unique relationship and special bond while encouraging their individuality. And one of the best ways to do that is through children’s books about twins we can read with them.
For instance, some of these picture books talk about fraternal twins who, like mine, look nothing alike. Others reinforce the fact that each child is their unique person and can be different from their sibling (even as identical twins).
One fantastic book talks about kindergarten and the possibility of being in separate classes. (Mine have never been in the same class together.) And they describe the special challenges of being twins, from fights to friendships, from being together 24/7 to the times when they’re apart.
Take a look at the best twin books, and the adorable stories and illustrations they share. Hopefully you’ll find the perfect book to read with your toddler twins:
