Read your favorite popular children’s books in Spanish, perfect for introducing beloved and classic books in another language.
To instill a love and habit of reading, my husband and I asked our kids’ nanny to read to them daily and often.
Except…English wasn’t her first language—Spanish was. Sure, she did a great job interpreting and reading the books stocked on our shelves. But we wanted her to feel comfortable reading to them in her native language.
I also didn’t want to hand her “my first Spanish book” types which, while fantastic, excluded many classics and favorites. So instead, I searched for popular children’s books—the ones we’ve read to them for years—and found their Spanish translations.
My mother-in-law, who also speaks Spanish, was able to use these books as well. She didn’t have to translate one of our English books and instead could read comfortably with these selections.
And finally, these children’s books in Spanish reinforced the benefits of bilingualism and exposed my kids to a new language. They could even compare the books in English they’d heard so often with this new and different way of communicating the stories.
