Get ready for the winter season with these winter books for preschoolers! Check out my top picks that are sure to warm the heart.
Here in Los Angeles, we miss out on a lot of the seasonal changes other cities get to experience. We might see a few trees shedding their fall leaves, and we definitely get our summer heat.
But one thing’s for sure: we don’t get a single speck of snow.
Our winters seem wimpy compared to others—60 degrees is “cold” enough to don a thick jacket and scarf. Visitors often can’t get used to seeing Christmas decor in 80-degree weather.
But even with mild winters, we can still thankfully drive an hour or two toward the mountains to experience snow. In fact, my family and I did that a few years ago. The twins got to play in snow for the first time, sledding and making snowmen quickly becoming their favorite activities.
Winter books for preschoolers
To get us set for our snowy adventure, we began reading children’s books about winter. Many were snow books for preschoolers, which were perfect for our outing. When you don’t get snow on a daily basis, the next best thing is to read about it.
But we also read about the seasonal changes that happen from fall to winter, and how animals prepare and hibernate for the long stretch. And we learned about all the creatures you’d likely find burrowing beneath the snowy grounds.
While our winters may be milder than most, we can at least learn about this beautiful season through these amazing winter books for preschoolers:
