A little over six years ago, I started a blog. And for the first several years, no one but maybe a handful of people I knew in real life read it. You’d find posts titled “A typical menu” or “Our little storyteller.”
But then I started writing things I was learning on this parenting journey. I wrote the strategies that seemed to work as well as everything I was reading and learning. I also weighed in on parenting topics. And slowly, those handful of people started growing. People I didn’t know started reading it.
And the coolest part? I realized I was helping not just myself, but others as well. People began telling me about a post that resonated with them. Or that words I wrote popped in their head as they were dealing with their kids.
So even though the blog has changed so much over the years—the layout, the ebooks, social media—at its root has always been… you.
You see, my priority is helping parents. I truly believe this is what has sustained this blog through the years and propelled its growth. It’s what I keep in mind when times are tough, or I doubt myself and want to give up. And it’s where I give credit when the good times roll around.
I also enjoy the community we have here! I personally read and answer all my emails and enjoy it (just last night, I spent a good 20 minutes responding to a reader who was scared about having twins). I ask for your feedback through surveys, emails and comments. And I’ve always been so proud of the SSBE community we’ve built.
On that note, THANK YOU so much for reading the blog, signing up for the newsletter, telling your friends, all that. Other blogs are way bigger than this one, and you have so many options to spend your time online, so I really appreciate you supporting and reading SSBE. Six years later, you’re still the reason I blog.
Happy 6th, all 🙂
